Hey there, Gorgeous! I want to tell you the truth about your comfort zone.
First of all, we all have a comfort zone. According to Wikipedia, a comfort zone is “a psychological state in which things feel familiar to a person and they are at ease and in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress.” That sounds nice, doesn’t it? Feeling comfortable, confident, and safe are all good things, right? Who wouldn’t want to stay inside her comfort zone?
The Dangers of Being Comfortable
Here is the truth about comfort zones. It’s dangerous to stay there too long. Staying in our comfort zone means we don’t take chances. We don’t push ourselves to try new things, learn about ourselves, or get past our limits. If we want to grow, we must be willing to get out of our comfort zones. It’s the only way we will get to discover life’s many great experiences.
For many women, a boudoir photoshoot is an experience waaaaaaay out of their comfort zone. In fact, that’s one of the most common reasons women give for wanting to come to the studio, get glammed up, and pose for professional photos. Here is what Ms. J, a recent client, had to say about her experience:
“I had wanted to do a boudoir photoshoot for a long time, but I had a lot of insecurities. When I thought about a photoshoot, I thought about perfect airbrushed models, not someone like me. I have three kids and I don’t exactly feel confident in my body right now. I’m not exaggerating when I say that signing up for a boudoir photoshoot was out of my comfort zone. But after I had a phone consult, I started to feel more comfortable with the idea. Even though I was still nervous about posing in lingerie, I decided to go for it. And I’m SO GLAD that I did. Wow, what an amazing experience. I’m seriously still on cloud nine from it all. I showed up at the studio and had my hair and makeup done. I was worried about not looking like myself, but the artist knew exactly how to enhance my natural features without making me look crazy. Then during the shoot, the photographer told me exactly what to do and how to pose. I didn’t have to even think for a second about feeling uncomfortable. I was too busy feeling amazing! After the photoshoot, when I saw my photos, I was just blown away. I kept thinking, ‘Is that really me? Because that person in those photos looks super sexy!’ I hadn’t thought about myself as being sexy for so long. Seeing myself in my boudoir photos rekindled something in me that had been missing for a really long time. This photoshoot was exactly the confidence boost that I needed in my life. I’m so glad that I took the chance to do this, even though I was nervous at first. Thank you for everything!”
